Do the Poor Deserve Life Support?

Do the Poor Deserve Life Support? - A woman who couldn't pay her bills is unplugged from her ventilator and dies. Is this wrong? By Steven E. Landsburg

Should you choose to read the article, be advised the author is a moonbat.

Thinking about issues of life and death can be difficult. To see a 27 year old dying of terminal cancer is tragically saddening. It seems unfair. To consider that the lack of money for sustained life support is the reason for her death seems almost cruel, hardhearted, and uncivilized.

As rich as America is, it seems proper to suggest that we, corporately speaking, should run to her defense; after all, how much is one person's life worth? Compassionate people and those who value life are overwhelmed with grief that the innocent, defenseless, and poor die at the hands of others. Terri Schiavo died a sad death; does compassion demand a similiar response for all who find themselves victims?

To suggest that this individual died because of a lack of money, of course, is shortsighted. The difficult reality is that death happens to us all in different ways and ages. The rich and poor alike suffer but one similiarity in life, death. Nothing can keep a poor or rich person alive indefinitely; we all die. How should Christians think about such things?

I don't know. What is certain is that believers have hope. Our hope is that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever; in life and after it.
