San Diego Charges Groups $10 to Rent Space, Churches $4,000
San Diego Church Sues City Over Unfair Facility Rental Fees
The Alliance Defense Fund is coming the legal aid of Canyon Ridge Baptist Church in San Diego who claims that the city's new fee structure, which raised their rent $1,500 per month last July to $4,000, illegally discriminates against religious groups. The city charges nothing to advisory groups and only $10 per meeting to secular groups. The only difference is that the church is religious.
I'm outraged; it's morally vulgar to charge this Christian group such an outrageously different fee than other community groups. Is San Diego the new Saudi Arabia?
