Thought-Control in Ohio Schools

I'm very unimpressed by "educators" who fear the critical evaluation of evolution opting instead for a form of censorship and thought-control. Let me explain...

The Ohio Board of Education voted 11-4 against allowing a critical analysis of certain aspects of evolution. They did NOT vote against intelligent design; they did NOT vote against creationism. They voted against the directed inquiry into the sustainability of evolution.

Sometimes educators love academic freedom; other times, they hate it. Rarely, do they throw it out the window. These poli-educrats chose to desecrate the educator's sacred responsibilty--free inquiry.

This is one more example of fear, intolerance, abridgment of academic freedom, preference to communistic indoctrination, limiting free speech, the lack of understanding the difference between endorsement and recognition, the hatred of all evalution of naturalistic secular-humanism, and the utter abhorance to all things that smell like "faith". Today, you 11 Ohio poli-educrats shame American education.

I have an idea. Why don't we let scientists decide what should be taught in science classes?

Where do we stop with the "critical analysis"? Critical analysis of American history? (Already criticized on your blog.)

Critical analysis of Christian church teachings? You'd never stand for it. Pre-college schools are not the place for "critical analysis", they're the place where the concensus body of knowledge that represents science is promulgated to students. Let them "critically analyze" it - and find that it stands the test - after they've been aquainted with what the theory actually says.

One thing I've learned from this blog is that almost nobody who opposes evolution actually understands it.

Just like a liberal.... always wanting to take power away from parents and give it to "the expert". You're sooo predictable.

perhaps, those who oppose it understand it better than you. but, to even consider that would violate you unending, unquestioned devotion to a theory you really can't understand fully... Admit it, you're taking knowledge second and third hand. You've never seen evolution occur. You've never looked through the microscope and examine the flagellum. You're as ignorant as you claim JR is. My goodness, arm you with a college biology text and you think your knowledge is supreme over all.... arrogant if you ask me.

I am actually an entomologist; I use the theory of evolution every single day.

just because something is functionally useful does not prove correctness.

If i believed water from my faucet came from the nose of the water fairy through pipes, I could still turn on my facet or even manipulate where the water goes once it enters my house.

If i believed water from my faucet came from the nose of the water fairy through pipes, I could still turn on my facet or even manipulate where the water goes once it enters my house.

But you couldn't fix your pipes when they broke; you couldn't do the plumbing in any addition to your house; and you certainly couldn't make any reliable predictions about how local water policy would affect you, etc.

It's not-so-surprisingly difficult to get anything done with a really wrong idea. The proof of this is the staggering, embarassing failure of modern creationism to achieve any useful results whatsoever.
