Blogs will Determine Presidential Candidates in 2008

I can't be so optimistic to say that they will determine who wins, but I feel confident that blogs will determine who gains the Presidential Nomination for the major political parties in 2008.

This article at CBS News, humorously titled, "Everyone For President In 2008!" outlines all of the possible future Presidents
Republicans: Arizona Sen. John McCain, Virginia Sen. George Allen, Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee, New York Gov. George Pataki, Nebraska Sen. Chuck Hagel, Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback and Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

Democrats: New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Former Vice President Al Gore, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, John Edwards, Kerry's running mate; former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner; New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson; Delaware Sen. Joe Biden; Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd; Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold; Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh; Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack; former South Dakota Sen. Tom Daschle; and retired Gen. Wesley Clark
These are the order the article presents them in; I might be able to draw a few conclusions about their preferences from it....

It's always been my contention that the blogs won't give a candidate the nomination and it won't deny him/her the nomination either. But it can certainly create a buzz... and buzz can bring a candidate from 4ht-5th place up to 1st-2nd place.

But in the end it's going to be the voters of Iowa and NH (and whatever states the Dems insert into the process) that propel a candidate to the nomination.

I'd love to welcome those interested in Governor Romney to a very positive issue oriented blog that I created in June of 2005, it's located at http://blog.electromneyin2008.com.

Blogs play an important role in creating buzz for a candidate and provide interested voters an opportunity to learn more about the potential candidates as the race forms in its early stages.
